BRIAN MERZ - Discipleship Pastor
I grew up in the north side of Boise and I’m so glad that I still get to live here. I received a BS in Interpersonal Communications with a Math Minor from the University of Idaho in 1987. I received an MA in Biblical Studies and Ministry from the Cole Center for Biblical Studies in 1991. I have served on the staff of The Summit Church since October 1991. My wife Angela and I were married in 1989 and we have two children, Isabella and Benjamin.
I enjoy skiing in the winter and camping in the summer. I collect and train bonsai trees. I love very HOT salsa and Thai food, but rhubarb pie with coffee will always be my favorite food. I also enjoy reading fiction for pleasure. I normally have multiple titles checked out from the public library. My ‘79 VW bus is the first and only car I have owned.
CHAD MARVIN - Worship Pastor
Chad Marvin has been Worship & Arts Pastor at The Summit Church in Boise, Idaho for almost eleven years. He is a singer / songwriter from Grand Rapids, Michigan who’s all about encouraging people to move closer to God; to use their musical abilities, to seek His face and to sit at His feet.
His mantra can be heard almost every Sunday as he leads with his Worship Team. “No matter where we’ve come from, no matter what we’ve done, there is nothing that can separate us from Christ’s unconditional love – He stands with His arms open wide, waiting for us to run to Him”.
Chad has a music and missions ministry to Eastern Europe which he continues to develop, giving musicians opportunity to share their lives and craft with a culture in great need.
His music career, aside from overseeing worship and arts ministries, is accompanied by a long list of achievements including writing with UMPG’S Final Four Music in Nashville and producing more than a dozen worship band albums under the Summit Church name. He released his first solo project “FAR SIDE OF THE WORLD” in 2008 under True North Music Group, Inc. in Boise. His Christmas single “WHEN HEAVEN CAME TO EARTH” was released in 2011. His alum, “PSALM”, will be released this fall (2014).
Hobbies: Travel, flying, photography, and watching movies.
Psalm 127:1-2 Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, to eat the bread of painful labors; For He gives to His beloved even in his sleep.
