The Habitat for Humanity Project has been Postponed
I received the following email from the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity:
“I am sorry to report that the HOA has once again rejected our plans and informed us that an additional review will require 30 days. A thinly disguised and disgraceful effort to discourage Habitat for Humanity from building in their neighborhood. At this time we must cancel our plans with Summit Church. It’s painful even to type that sentence. We have really looked forward to working with you, once again. We are working on a new development at the corner of Glenwood and Hill Road. Home construction will start September 2020. In the meantime, we are searching for land, lots and/or a home we could rehab. I’ll keep you updated.
Thank you, very much, for your support and prayers.”
We had planned to frame this home in our parking lot on September 7 which is just 4 weeks away. The additional 30-day review period does not give us enough time with the blueprints to complete our portions of the project. I am very disappointed by this turn of events and yet I know God is in control. My hope is that this is a postponement, not a cancellation. I will be in contact with HFH over the next several weeks to explore how we can partner with them to build a home. I will keep you all updated as we move forward.
